When Does Life Begin?

Let's face it. In the U.S. today, what constitutes whether an unborn child is a life or not is whether or not the mother wants the child. If she chooses that she wants the baby, then any harm done to it is a crime. However, if she chooses she does not want it, it is nothing more than tissue mass and may be disposed of at her whim. What is the basis for this? Where does this right originate? Is this what a woman's right to privacy grants her? Maybe I've got it all wrong, but I don't think they would have issued an amber alert for this woman's liver. (Via Drudge)

I understand the problems with trying to draw a line at where life begins and ends but it's a pragmatic distinction not a real one because how are we to know when life begins and ends? When do you think life begins? Does it begin at the potential for life when there are just a few cells of tissue mass? If that's the case then we should support and respect all forms of potential life. Actually, I kind of like this idea because this means I should be having sex right now! Hell I could actually be creating another human life as we speak, the potential is there! What am I waiting for?! woohoo!!!...err...excuse me...I mean yeehawww!!!!
